High-quality, professional skincare treatments don’t have to be complicated. We believe you should have access to all the information you need to make the best decision for you. Below, you’ll find answers to some of our most frequently asked questions. You can also learn more about treatments here.

Procedures

  • If you are ready for treatment at the time of booking, consultations are not necessary. We allow time in each appointment to talk through your goals, develop an individualized treatment plan, and answer any questions you may have.

Unsure of what to book? Schedule a consultation and we’re happy to help determine what treatment will help you achieve your desired outcomes. Please note that no procedure will be provided at this appointment. To book a consultation, we require a nonrefundable fee of $50, which will then be applied toward future treatment costs or the purchase of products.

  • The amount of product needed varies from person to person, depending on your facial anatomy, muscle strength, and aesthetic preferences. You will be able to discuss this at length with your provider at the time of your first treatment appointment or consultation.

  • Most people see initial results within seven to ten days. If needed, we recommend waiting at least two weeks before booking a touch-up.

  • The duration of bruising and swelling depends on skin type and area of injection. However, bruising and swelling typically subside within three to seven days.

  • We suggest you don’t take any blood thinners for 72-hours prior to your appointment. Medications and supplements such as vitamin E, gingko biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega-3/fish oil supplements, Motrin, Advil, Aspirin, Aleve, and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections. If you are worried about bruising, try to refrain from consuming alcohol and caffeine for 24-hours prior to your treatment. They are also blood thinners that can contribute to the appearance of bruises. Natural remedies such as arnica and bromelain have been shown to help reduce bruising. They can be purchased at most health food stores, and it can be helpful to take them for two days before and after treatment.

  • The type of filler you need depends on your target area and desired effect. You will be able to discuss a customized plan with your provider at the time of your first treatment appointment or consultation.

  • Wrinkle Relaxers generally last up to three to four months, while Dermal Fillers can last anywhere from six months to 12 months. However, this varies from person to person and depends on the area being injected.

  • We do not suggest scheduling any treatments or procedures while pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • In general, we encourage our clients to plan for one hour. However, the length of your appointment will depend on what treatment you are receiving. Your first appointment will typically be longer than others, as we will take the time to discuss your goals and develop a treatment plan. If you need to be out of your appointment at a certain time, please just let us know when you arrive!

Policies

  • The first time you visit The Clinic, you will have one-on-one time with your provider to discuss skin goals and develop a results-driven, personalized treatment plan. This is true whether you book a treatment or an in-person consultation. A nonrefundable fee of $50 is required to book a consultation appointment and will be applied toward future treatment costs or products.

  • We ask that you provide us with a 24-hour notice in the event you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment. If a 24-hour notice is not provided, you will be charged a $50 cancellation fee.

If an appointment is missed without notice, a $50 cancellation fee will be charged, and you may not be invited to book another appointment at The Clinic.

  • All treatments and packages are final sale. Packages are nontransferable, and expire six months from the purchase date.

We accept returns on unopened products within 30 days of purchase. You can return your unopened product for store credit, a different product, or a refund to the original payment method. Opened or partially used products cannot be returned.

All Things Botox

Let's smooth it out. Are you interested in Botox® and want to learn more? Below you will find a list of our most frequently asked questions, including information about pricing, side effects, and pre- and post-care instructions.

  • Botox® is a neuromodulator made from botulinum toxin A. It works by blocking the signals which typically travel from the nerves to the muscles. Doing so relaxes the muscles and inhibits contractions, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and softening the aging face. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Botox® in 2002 as the first neuromodulator to treat frown lines, crows feet, and forehead lines. However, there are now several similar medications on the market, including Dysport®, Xeomin®, and Jeaveau®. Today, Botox® is not only one of the most popular cosmetic procedures on the market, but it is also continues to be used by healthcare professionals to treat a variety of medical conditions related to muscles.

  • Here at The Clinic, the cost of Botox® is $12-$13 per unit.

  • While the longevity of Botox® varies person by person, treatment results typically last three to four months. If you receive Botox® at regular intervals your facial muscles may become weaker over time, causing the effects of each treatment to last longer.

  • Yes, Botox® is injected in small, targeted doses and has been used medically for decades. It is safe when administered by a licensed professional.

  • The active ingredient in Botox® is botulinum toxin Type A, a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium A. Botulinum. It is used to relax muscles on the face and neck that cause wrinkles and are associated with facial expressions or pain.

  • The needles used to inject Botox® are very thin, so pain is usually minimal. We often say it feels like nothing more than a pin prick! We also offer distracting methods, such as a handheld vibration device or use of tapping, massaging, or squeezing. These techniques can help minimize discomfort caused by the injections.

  • Each patient comes to us with their own, unique muscle strengths and patterns. This means that the amount of product needed by each person will vary. We have provided an estimated range for each facial area below and are happy to provide an individualized consultation at your first visit.

    • The Glabella Region may require between 15-25 units of Botox®. This region is often referred to as the “11s” between your eyes.

    • The Frontalis Muscle may require between 6-20 units of Botox®. This is the muscle which causes horizontal lines on the forehead.

    • The Crow’s Feet may require 6-15 units of Botox®. These are the lines around the eyes which appear when smiling.

    • Eyebrow lift may require 4-6 units of Botox® per side.

    • Nasalis lines may require 2-4 units of Botox®. These are sometimes referred to as “Bunny” lines.

    • Upper lip lines may require 4-8 units of Botox®.

    • Lip lift may require 2-4 units of Botox®.

    • Dimpled chin may require 6-8 units of Botox®.

    • Marionette lines may require 4-8 units of Botox®.

    • Gummy smile may require 2-4 units of Botox®.

    • Neck bands may require 25-50 units of Botox®.

    • Masseter Muscle may require 15-30 units of Botox® on each side of the face. This is sometimes called “Face Slimming” or used for treatment of TMJ.

Please keep in mind that these are only estimates and will vary based on your unique anatomy and desired outcome.

  • For most patients, Botox® has few or no side effects. When they do occur, the most common Botox® side effects are mild and include localized pain, swelling, tenderness, bruising and/or minimal bleeding at the injection site.

However, in rare cases, patients may experience more uncomfortable side effects, which include drooping eyelids, dry eyes or excessive tearing, or some temporary asymmetry.

To mitigate these rare side effects from occurring, your providers at The Clinic are very specific in where they place the injections, and we kindly ask you to follow the post care instructions we provide.

The effects from Botox® typically last three to four months. As muscle action gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to reappear and need to be treated again.

    • Avoid getting ‘too hot’ for 48 hours after treatment. You’ll want to skip things like strenuous workouts, hot yoga, drinking alcohol, hot weather, tanning beds, saunas, and steam rooms. Avoiding these types of heat will decrease the risk of product diffusion into unintended areas. It will also help keep swelling and bruising to a minimum.

    • Do not apply makeup or get a spray tan for at least six hours after treatment. This reduces the risk of infection.

    • Do not rub or massage the treated areas after your procedure. Doing so can cause the botulinum toxin to migrate to another area.

    • Do not apply pressure when cleansing your face. Instead, use gentle strokes away from your eyes.

    • Do not wear tight hats or headbands near the injection area for the first 24-hours.

    • Do not receive facial massages, dermaroller, semi-permanent makeup, laser, or microdermabrasion treatments for two weeks after your appointment.

    • Try to stay upright for at least four hours after treatment.

  • Typically, the effects of Botox® last for up to three to four months. Therefore, the recommended treatment is once every three to four months. However, after regular Botox® treatments, your facial muscles may begin to train themselves to contract less. If this occurs, the period of time between each treatment can be extended.

  • After your first treatment, you may experience tightness or a “heavy” sensation in the treatment area. Because Botox® works by temporarily relaxing the muscles in the injection areas, you may notice a difference in your range of facial expression and/or slight changes in how your face responds when you lift your eyebrows.

  • We can not treat you with Botox® if you are pregnant or breastfeeding but can suggest topical skincare products to use in the interim.

  • We suggest that clients avoid exercise for 48 hours after Botox®. This is due to the fact that exercise increases blood flow through the muscles, which can potentially diffuse the Botox®.

Instead, give your face a workout! Seriously. Squint, frown, smile, and raise your eyebrows. These small movements actually help work the Botox® into the muscle.

  • Do not massage or rub the treated area for at least two weeks following treatment. This includes avoiding facial treatments such as facials, eyebrow waxing or threading, facial brushes, and microdermabrasion.

  • The cost of jaw reduction Botox® treatments start at $390 per session. Botox® of the upper face typically shows results within five to 14 days and lasts three to four months. However, Botox® of the masseter muscles may take up to six weeks for full results and treatments often last six months or more.

For this treatment, 15-30 units of Botox® is injected on each side of the face into the masseter muscle.

  • Most physically healthy, non-smokers are good candidates for botulinum toxin A. Consult with your healthcare provider if you have a history of allergic reaction to any of the inactive ingredients in the neurotoxin family. This can help you select another, more appropriate product that does not contain your allergen. Do not have Dysport® treatments if you are allergic to cow’s milk protein.

  • Botox® temporarily relaxes the muscle to eliminate the appearance of wrinkles. On the other hand, filler is a hyaluronic acid solution used to correct volume loss or improve contours of the face.

Pre- & Post-Treatment Instructions

  • Schedule your filler and Botox® appointment at least two weeks prior to a special event. Results from Botox® will take approximately two to ten days to appear. Bruising and swelling may also be apparent in that time period.

You are not a candidate for treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

If you tend to bruise easily, we recommend taking arnica. This homeopathic medication will help promote healing while minimizing bruising and swelling. Begin taking Arnica Montana three to four days before treatment and continue use after your procedure. The medication is available as an oral tablet or a topical cream and can be purchased at most natural food stores.
